Emsys® Closes Out a Fantastic 2011 in Shanghai and New Orleans

The year 2011 has been an extremely busy year for the commercial maritime activities at W R Systems, Ltd. (WRSystems). Emsys® has been introduced to marine markets all over the globe, and, as 2011 comes to an end, two teams from WRSystems finished off the year at Marintec (Shanghai, PRC) and the International Workboat Show in New Orleans, Louisiana, US.

This year's Marintec show was the largest ever, comprising six halls and featuring a 'Who's Who' of maritime suppliers and shipyards from the worldwide maritime community. Currently, Emsys® is targeted at the larger shipyards and ship-owners in China; however, as the 2016 Tier III deadline approaches, this market is expected to grow significantly throughout the Chinese maritime marketplace.

Marintec was organised alongside our local partners 'Shanghai Willing Co'. This local representation meant that our promotional materials were translated into Chinese to further impress the local market.

Mr. Simon Brown, WRSystems International Director of Marine Business, headed the delegation and commented 'I can't believe how far we have come since the launch of the Emsys® product in September 2010 at SMM in Hamburg. We have established an unrivalled worldwide network of partners in all the key maritime centres, we have received significant contracts from major blue-chip shipping and offshore companies, and we are closing out the year in China, further reinforcing our position as a major player in the marine emissions monitoring (EMS) marketplace. The team at WRSystems is looking forward to 2012 to build even further on the success we generated in 2011'.

During the same period as Marintec, Dave Edwards - WRSystems Senior Vice President and Megan Jones, Emsys® Program Manager were exhibiting at the International Workboat Show in New Orleans. The Workboat show is a traditional year-end get together for the US-based maritime community, and also a chance for the International companies to see what's new in the US market.

With over 1000 companies exhibiting, the show attracted its usual mix of US based and overseas visitors. WRSystems' position as a strategic supplier of navigation equipment and services to the US Navy and other federal/commercial customers, makes this event an ideal opportunity to inform the market of the latest technologies and projects, combined with introducing new products such as Emsys®.

'I think Workboat is an ideal opportunity for the industry to have a year-end catch up while enjoying the unique hospitality served up by New Orleans, comments Dave Edwards. 'We have been exhibiting here for many years now and I am always surprised by the fantastic leads and industry information we uncover. Our position as a major supplier to the US Navy has always been known in the U.S, but I am really impressed by the global recognition we are now receiving, especially since the launch of Emsys® and the formation of our worldwide partner network. 2011 has been a very challenging year for the team; developing new markets and carrying out prestigious projects in new market sectors are always a challenge, but the team is more energised than ever and 2012 is shaping up to be pivotal in meeting our ambitions for commercial maritime success'.
