Representatives from W R Systems, Ltd. (WRSystems) are delighted with the response received from WRSystems booth visitors at Kormarine 2011. This is the first time WRSystems have exhibited in Korea. Their booth was part of a larger display organised by WRSystems partners in Korea, 'World Ocean Company'.
WRSystems representatives attended the exhibition to reinforce the promotional activity of Emsys® within the world's largest shipbuilding market. To date in 2011, the Korean new-build market represents over 50% of the Emsys® orders placed (USD) worldwide.
Prior to the event, Mr. Dave Edwards (WRSystems Senior Vice President) and Mr. Simon Brown (WRSystems Director, International Marine Business) attended meetings and provided presentations to the major Korean shipyards. The Emsys® combined emissions and Particulate Matter (PM) monitoring system is currently the most sophisticated system for sale in the industry. Because Emsys® is designed for high accuracy and high reliability, it complements the high technology vessels constructed in Korea.
Commenting on the success of the trip, Dave Edwards stated 'I am thrilled at the feedback we received from the Korean market. These guys build the best commercial ships in the world and to hear that our system has eliminated the issues they have faced with the first generation technology reinforces our decision to enter this market. We designed Emsys® using the skills and principles we incorporate in our military technology; it is obvious that our attention to detail and commitment to produce the lowest maintenance system has struck a chord with both the ship builders and the ship owners.'
Simon Brown also noted 'Korea is an important market for WRSystems. Our Blue-Chip customer base builds many ships in Korea; therefore, it is important that we explain the benefits of the Emsys® technology to the shipyards. Using laser sensor-based technology, as opposed to traditional analysers, brings many benefits to ship builders. The reduced installation time, combined with installation in the funnel space (eliminating air conditioned control room requirements), has solved two of the shipyards' biggest issues. Additionally, the ability to integrate directly into the vessels alarm and automation systems means ships' staff can operate Emsys® from the main displays in the control room. Our calibration free laser sensor,except for MARPOL Annex VI requirements, also reduces operating costs. This, combined with having no consumable parts (filters, pumps, NOx converters), of traditional systems makes Emsys® a sure-fire winner.'
