Navigation Systems The U.S. Navy sails with Navigation and Interior Comms equipment from WRSystems: Superior Engineering Innovative Design Expert Maintenance Cutting-Edge Logistics Comprehensive Test and Evaluation. WRSystems provides a broad range of engineering, technical, and logistics services in support of navigation equipment and systems, which include, but are not limited to the Navy's inertial navigation systems, gyrocompasses, speed sensors, inertial alignment systems, dead reckoning tracers, rodmeters, and plotting systems. WRSystems is a member of the team designing and developing electronic charting. During the initial phase of this project, we assessed Digital Nautical Chart (DNC) data tools for conversion and portrayal in portable 3D environments. We used advanced 3D rendering tools to allow a linked, real-time 3D portrayal of realistic nautical environments and navigational aids using sensory cues such as shape, color, shading, texture, transparency, and animation. Portrayal of navigational information included ship physical representation, orientation, and route.
	WRSystems designs, develops, and tests circuits, printed wiring boards, equipment prototypes, and systems. These projects have gained us considerable expertise in state-of-the-art RF, H/W, and S/W design. Our computer engineers specialize in providing innovative technology solutions in software and Internet database applications development, including database and application support, real-time and object-oriented software, Internet and Web development, and modeling and simulation.
WRSystems has played an active role in designing equipment replacements, as well as in adapting commercially available technology to meet requirements for enhanced training and operational situational awareness capabilities. Our engineers perform studies to understand all of the problem areas with the existing design before defining the requirements and specifications. That data provides valuable details on the need for replacement. WRSystems has provided technical support in the areas of troubleshooting, problem resolution, repair, maintenance, and alignment associated with navigation systems and equipment. We staff a 24-hour hotline to ensure customers have constant access to services. Many times, these calls come from operational units at sea and are fielded by us after standard business hours. In addition to our field service personnel, technicians supporting other efforts are always on call and have assisted in problem resolution on board ships and at shore activities. WRSystems is the only contractor authorized by the U.S. Navy, other than the OEM, to perform testing in support of NAVSEA's navigation system certification (NAVCERT) program. We perform dockside and at-sea NAVCERT testing on all classes of ships with inertial navigation systems (surface combatants, SSNs, CV/CVNs, and LHD/LHAs), including new construction surface ships and platforms requiring extensive navigation/combat systems changes during overhaul.
WRSystems excels in providing technical staff augmentation and technical project management outsourcing support services in all areas of Long Range Navigation (LORAN) system support and upgrades.
Common Geospatial Navigation Toolkit (COGENT) WRSystems provides engineering and technical support to Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center (SPAWARSYSCEN) Charleston. SPAWARSYSCEN has developed unique Government Off-the-Shelf (GOTS) software tools which support a variety of interagency Geospatial Information and Services (GI&S) requirements. Layered data displays have been demonstrated to be scaleable across a variety of computing platforms, thin clients and laptops, operating in Windows 2000 and Windows XP.
